Il traduttore come mediatore interculturale
The volume seeks to explore the translator’s role as intercultural mediator in the continuous and challenging dialogue between languages and cultures.
Its aim is to present some theoretical perspectives which have outlined the function of the translator as an active agent and the implications of the translating process which involves not only a linguistic but a also cultural transfer from source text to target text.
Two case studies highlight the ongoing theoretical debate on translation as an act of rewriting in relation to issues of authority, gender, race and as an act of communication in specialised languages/contexts.
